What Others Are Saying

"Our family has been a client of Small Blessings since 2002 when we enrolled our first son there. When our second son came along in 2005, there was no doubt what child development community he would attend. We love Small Blessing's focus on teaching and development from the infant age on up.  In our family, it is always referred to as 'school' and not "daycare" because of this. Most importantly, our sons are happy and safe here, and the staff truly cares about the well-being of our children."

Employment Information

We truly appreciate your interest in joining our team.  It is important to understand that Small Blessings is not a typical daycare center.  Our philosophy and environments are Reggio and Montessori inspired to create organic learning environments eliciting authentic engagement and creativity from the children, families, and teachers.  We utilize the Project Approach to learning so that we can leverage children’s natural curiosity to be active participants in their learning by asking questions, hypothesizing, reflecting, and discovering answers through exploration supported by teachers and families providing materials and hands on experiences.

Our teachers and /families observe children at play as well as in small and large group activities, collaborate, and plan individualized curriculum designed to meet children where they are and stretch them to discover, explore, and investigate answers to their questions.  This must be done for each specific group of children because no two groups of children are the same.  Children’s growth and development are assessed and  documented in portfolios, the shared with families during quarterly family conferences.  Our teachers also portfolio their own reflections and growth as part of their professional development.  So, as you can imagine, members of our team must be curious lifelong learners that bring significant contributions to our children, families, and team.

We are looking for dedicated early childhood teachers who are committed to this profession and will remain with us for at least 3 years.  To better serve our community of young children and our team’s learning environment, our teachers must be degreed in early childhood or committed to completing their early childhood degree through our scholarship program (via Ivy Tech for Associates then Ball State for Bachelors).

Here is an application and teacher assessment to complete the initial process.  Candidates that assess appropriately and have the early childhood experience we are looking for are scheduled for interview.  You will meet with myself and the team you would be working with.  Candidates spend the better part of the day engaging in the classrooms they are interviewing for.  Our teachers make the final decision as to who they bring on to develop and train.

  1. Complete the Application for Employment The application can be scanned and sent to llbalta@smallblessingsinc.com or faxed to 317-713-1903.  There are many aspects of the application and I encourage you to give me your heartfelt answers so that I can know more about you and your philosophy for teaching young children.
  2. Complete the Child Care Provider Assessment by clicking on the following link: http://www.ischeig.com/bin/d.dll?W=8WTNTZAP&T=149&J=.  This assessment takes about 45 minutes to complete.  Once you exit the program the information is sent directly to me.  I will share that information with you during our interview process.

The successful candidate is responsible for obtaining their pre-employment physical, TB, drug screen, and criminal history background; in addition to completing an employment packet which will be provided upon hire.   It is also necessary for the successful candidate to understand that there are many resources they must read after hours during their initial 90-day probationary period to build shared understanding of our program and best practices for young children.

I look forward to learning more about you how our goals and objectives may be shared.  We are located on the northwest corner of 96th and Zionsville road.

For more information please contact Lee Ann Balta for more information at call 328-2223 extension 115.
