LEE ANN BALTA
OWNER/DIRECTOR
Lee Ann Balta is the owner and director for Small Blessings Inc., a child development center focused on the whole family. The center is Lee Ann’s dream achieved. She developed the business plan for the facility, worked with the architects, formed a business partnership with Browning Construction and Investment and currently serves over 200 families. In 2006 Small Blessings partnered with Zionsville School Corporation to serve its employees with a private program located within the corporation. Small Blessings celebrates its 5th birthday February 11th 2007.
Lee Ann began her career in early childhood with a licensed home-based daycare in 1997 that served 10 families. She decided to pursue building a larger center after she researched adding a preschool program to her family’s church. Ultimately the church decided not to pursue this ministry, but there is a need in the community for more versatile child development programs that are tuned into the needs of today’s families.
With an Associate of Science Degree in business, and an Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood she is now completing her bachelors in early childhood at Indiana University. Lee Ann volunteers as Vice President of the Indianapolis Chapter of the Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children (IAEYC) and founding member of MSDS Pike Township Early Childhood Collaborative. In 2006 Lee Ann accepted a position with Child Care Answers, a local resource and referral program, serving as their Mentoring Specialist, mentoring other childcare providers, ministries and centers.
Prior to opening the home-based daycare center, Lee Ann held a human resource position at Wabash Valley Power, where she was responsible for payroll, employee reviews, hiring and various other aspects of operations. She also has worked in the payroll department at The Heritage Group and as a customer service representative at Target.
She and her husband Dale have four children, ages 10 to 20, and are active members of Cross Pointe Christian Church. She also participates with their children in Girl Scouts, Pike Youth Soccer and the Parent Teacher Association. Lee Ann truly values education and continues to search for ways to reach out to her community through hosting programs and socials and relaying found resources.
